Serving Clients Full Circle

Grateful Patient Fundraising, Data-Driven Capacity Studies, Campaign Strategy, and more

What We Do

Whether it is grateful patients, campaign work, or individual growth, Hallett Philanthropy brings nearly a quarter of a century (25 years) of front-line and leadership experience to meet client expectations in the following areas:

GRATEFUL PATIENT FUNDRAISING

Grateful Patient programs are fundraising initiatives that allow hospitals and other healthcare organizations to find more major gift prospects among their patients. They raise money from present and former hospital patients and aim to increase gifts from past donors. The goal of these programs is to, by collaborating with clinicians, identify high-quality fundraising prospects or donors and use proper fundraising strategies to bring in donations for the hospital. These programs are designed to foster a culture of gratitude and raise money to support the many services that hospitals provide.

Hallett Philanthropy will…

  • Implement the step-by-step Hallett Philanthropy guide for Grateful Patient fundraising success

  • Train clinicians to understand patient/family gratitude and how the Foundation/Development Office works with their patients/families

  • Assist with clinicians’ comfort level being referral agents by being partners with the Foundation/Development Office

  • Help gift officers with the clinician relationships

  • Help gift officers be more effective and efficient with grateful patients/families in moving them to gift opportunities

  • Support the use of appropriate data to best utilize HIPAA compliant information to quickly identify the best clinician partners and correct patients/families to engage with

Board training

Studies and research consistently indicate the most successful “referral” for a future donor comes from a community volunteer, in particular a board member. How do you get board members to engage past “reviewing the finances?” If a non-profit’s board and key volunteers are engaged at a personal level, beyond just the superficial, the organization gains immeasurable credibility in the community and additional philanthropic dollars to support the mission.

Hallett Philanthropy will…

  • Train board members to better understand the true value of the role and what the organization truly needs from them

  • Train board members to become more comfortable being referral agents by being partners with the Foundation/Development Office

  • Help the board understand the difference between “operations” vs “strategic” and enable the board to embrace more the “vision” responsibilities rather than be concerned with daily organization efforts

  • Help to rewrite board “job descriptions” as well as create metrics for board members

  • Oversee and facilitate strategic planning efforts, through the board, for the entire organization

  • Review and rewrite any/all organizational wide policies

ANNUAL GIVING

Capital campaigns get all the glory, but the most successful campaigns are built on the shoulders of strong annual giving programs. An annual giving program should engage your constituents in your organization’s efforts, use analytics to identify the best tactics for securing philanthropic support from your stakeholders, and build sustainable giving relationships that feed the major gift pipeline.  Annual giving counsel involves taking the long view and answering the difficult questions.

Hallett Philanthropy will…

  • Review the process, segmentation, and input data used for a non-profit’s annual giving program against best practice and national statistics

  • Review literature, case statements, and other collateral material for clarity and effectiveness

  • Makes recommendations on potential improvement

FEASIBILITY STUDIES/CAMPAIGN PLANNING

Hallett Philanthropy often collaborates with nonprofit organizations to assess an organization’s proficiency with regard to fundraising and to ready the nonprofit to increase its fundraising efficacy.

DEVELOPMENT ASSESSMENT

A development assessment examines fundraising programs top to bottom, using both quantitative and qualitative methodology to help prioritize staff and monetary resources, make a plan for the organization’s future, and grow to reach fundraising potential. The result of findings in a Development Assessment, the Development Plan provides formal recommendations as a roadmap to guide successful development initiatives. Action items are assigned responsibility and timelines to drive and ensure accountability.

Hallett Philanthropy will…

  • Interview key internal and external constituents

  • Review the relationship and communication between the Board, the executive team, and the fundraising team

  • Review metrics/accountability of the fundraisers

  • Oversee the quantitative data analysis of the fundraising CRM to see how it is used, related processes, etc.

  • Create formal recommendations regarding improvement opportunities

  • Present results to the non-profits leadership

MARKET ASSESSMENTS

Many times, non-profits do not have a full understanding or appreciation of the “upside” of fundraising opportunity.   A metro market assessment takes a current non-profit, and its philanthropic efforts, and compares it to the rest of the metro market to assess where it “stands” within the local community.

Hallett Philanthropy will…

  • Identify and analyze the community for a better understanding of total philanthropy capacity

  • Compare the non-profit inside the local community to assess its “place” as it pertains to how much money might be raised

  • Compare the non-profit to others like inside the local community and is fundraising effectiveness

  • Compare the local community to other similar communities to see trends and opportunities

  • Compare the non-profit to national statistics and research to give a high level comparison

  • Makes recommendations on potential improvement

Concierge Stewardship Services

Strong and consistent communication with donors is essential in stewardship. As it relates to healthcare, having the ability to meet the donor’s expectations, as it pertains to their need for ongoing medical care, can be an important element to deepening the relationship. A properly designed and run program that meets those needs while remaining “true” the organization’s culture and mission is a challenge. But when done correctly and effectively, such a service can bring immense value to the donors, the fundraising operations, and the clinical enterprise.

Hallett Philanthropy will…

  • Help gain buy-in from key influencers and decision-makers

  • Create an individualized step-by-step guide as to how to best build the proper program, including process mapping, timelines, and job descriptions

  • Develop a plan for internal and external communications

  • Provide strategic guidance for branded material

  • Develop performance metrics and reports for accountability and ROI

CAMPAIGN COUNSEL

Throughout a major fundraising campaign, hands-on guidance and support takes many forms: recruiting volunteers to advocate for you in the community; training your staff in the art and science of cultivation and solicitation; identifying your best prospects and brainstorming the best ways to capture their hearts and minds.

Executive coaching can be customized for emerging talent, gift officers, fundraising leaders, senior executives, new managers, or any other members of leadership team who are striving to deliver their very best.
