When our son asked about ChatGPT, we gave a simple answer—until he followed up with, “Because kids are using it during school to answer questions… and I don’t like it.” That unexpected response led to a conversation with his teacher, where we discovered the school had no official discussions or policies on AI use. Meanwhile, as states debate banning cell phones in classrooms, AI tools like ChatGPT remain largely unregulated, despite their potential to reshape how students learn—or avoid learning. Criticism is Taken Differently… Lesson Learned

I learned the hard way that "Coach Dad" is a tough gig—especially when it comes to push-ups. After calling out my daughter distinctive form in front of her teammates, I found myself on the receiving end of a very disappointed 8-year-old and a lesson I won’t forget. Boys bounce back from criticism like it’s a challenge; girls, not so much. Note to self: next time, keep the commentary positive and save the groveling for after practice!
